Executive Care Opens First Philadelphia Location

With an aging population that requires help with daily activities or with managing health, in-home care has become a popular solution. Looking to help manage the rising demand for such services, New Jersey-based Executive Care, one of the nation’s leading providers of skilled home health care, has opened its first Philly location.

The new business services Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties and is owned and operated by Philadelphia natives Mustafa and Mujahid Shakur, along with their wives, Joslyn and Angela respectively. Prior to opening their Executive Care franchise, Mustafa spent 10 years playing professional basketball in the NBA Europe and Lebanon. No strangers to small business ownership and entrepreneurship, Mujahid and Angela previously owned several local barbershops.

“More and more people have become aware that in-home care might be a better choice for them or an elderly loved one than moving out to a nursing home or other type of senior care facility. At Executive Care, we offer top of the line live-in home care services, and tailor our type of care to exactly suit individual needs,” said Mujahid. “We couldn’t be more excited about bringing these services to the Philadelphia marketplace.”

Founded in 2004, Executive Care offers a variety of caregiving and skilled nursing services to help families often overwhelmed with the responsibility of providing care to a loved one – all while ensuring the patient remains in the comfort of his or her own home. Services range from companionship and help with meal preparation and household chores to help with bathing, personal hygiene and personal care. Executive Care also serves individuals recovering from illness, injury or surgery.

To guarantee the highest quality, Executive Care requires all prospective caregivers to undergo an intensive pre-employment screening process, including a criminal background investigation, verification of references and an employment history check. All caregivers are insured, experienced and undergo skills tests and continuing education training. Registered nurses closely supervise and monitor all staff, conducting periodic evaluation assessments.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with a full-service home care franchise with a proven business model and deep understanding of the critical role home care is playing in the lives of millions of Americans,” said Mustafa. “We firmly believe in Executive Care’s core values and found it to be the best home care franchise fit for us. Our business will bring an improved, coordinated level of care to the area so that local families can find the comfort they need for themselves and their loved ones.”

The new Executive Care office is the first of 3-5 locations that Executive Care hopes to open in the metro area over the next few years.
